Baby card

Just popping in to show you a quick babycard I made. Again with the little deer of the Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods set. I'm still in love with it. I used some left over from papers I got from Judith  for one of our challenges.

A couple of weeks ago I made another bib which theme (deer!) fits perfectly to this card.

For tomorrow, enjoy New Year's Eve and have a wonderful and blessed 2014!

Crazy for CAS #35 Anything goes

In my previous post I told you I haven't made any christmas card. Well, that is not really true as I made you one! With this card I'd like to wish you all a very blessed and happy Christmas time.

I created this card for the new challenge on the Crazy for Cas blog. The theme this time is easy: 'Anything goes'! So, dive quickly into your materials and create a nice cas-card with any theme you like! You can link your creation until 3 January.

I used some papers from the 6x6 paper pad from Crate Paper's Bundle Up. The sentiment on the vellum  is from Clearly Besotted Stamps.

Enjoy this Saturday and thanks for coming by!

baby present

No Christmas cards this year for me. So far I have seen so many beautiful christmas cards. I really enjoy them, but I pass this year...

I made a small present for the newborn daughter of Bijdehand. Of course, I had to use Lawn Fawn's deer - so cute! And I made her a bips with 'Eline's huis' fabric and  sweet red/white polka-dots. Luckily, the present were received with joy!

After taking the last picture, I thought: Am I crazy? It looked really crooked. So, I had a closer look at the card, but I couldn't see I cut the card wrong. The back was perfect, but when I turned it to the front side it was absolutely awful! But what is the case? The background I used (from Crate Paper's Bundle Up) gives a optical illusion... As you probably see the triangles go to the right upper corner and that gives the crooked look. Funny, isn't it?

Thanks for coming by. Enjoy your weekend!

Hello!

I fell in love with Lawn Fawn's Into the Woods-set the very first moment I saw cards made with the set. Fortunately, I could order the set in the Netherlands, which I actually didn't expect. So glad I found it! I saw many cards with this set and I combined some of them for a little inspiration. This is the result. Isn't it cute?

Enjoy St. Nicholas' Day and for the Dutch readers: hopefully the storm won't bother you. Take care!

Chalkboard Technique #2

I made some more cards with a chalkboard background (see this post for an explanation). This one was really easy as well. I took a black square, embossed it with a nice PTI-sentiment (Mini Blooms-set) and added some chalk ink which I spreaded over the square with my fingers. I trimmed the black backgroun onto a Basic Grey paper and die cut a flower and leaves. Some twine for the finishing touch and ready!

Did you see the posts from Inge on Blogblom and Anneke on Some fiddling on the kitchen table? They used this technique in a beautiful way as well !

Crazy for Cas #32 - Recycling

Today a new challenge starts on the Crazy for Cas blog. The theme for the next two weeks is: recycling. You can use so many things for this challenge, just use your fantasy. Have a look on the blog and get some inspiration from the DT members.

I am addicted to newspapers, so I have got many old issues which I could use for this challenge. I die cut flowers from the newspaper and put a button into the middle as a centre. I coloured the petals a little with some blue ink in order to have more cohesion between the small strip of gingham patterned paper and the flower. The kraft part of the background is embossed with a woodgrain embossingfolder from Papertrey Ink.

Looking forward to seeing your creations!
Thanks for coming by and enjoy the weekend!

Chalkboard technique

I have seen so many beautiful cards with the chalkboard technique over the past few months, that I had to give it a try myself. With the help of this great tutorial by Nichol Magouirk, I made my very first chalkboard card. I love the effect! And it is really  easy as well.

This one is a very simple one with only one stamp, but I'm sure I will make a few more. I add only one flower as the card don't ask for more.

So, are you going to give it a try? Looking forward to seeing your chalkboard cards. On pinterest you can find lots of examples!

Saturday I found a little package on my doormat. It was filled with flower seeds packed in a lovely heart and in paper. See the pictures. It was sent by Hanneke. We were colleagues for a short time and a couple of years later I met her again when she came to a workshop I gave. Since she started her blog I always read her blogs with a smile on my face. She writes great blogs about many things in daily life and she shows great things the has made herself. The paper with seeds in it is made by herself as well. You can read a little about the proces here. The straw contains Poppy seeds

Thanks, Hanneke! And thank you for coming by. Have a nice day!

Crazy for Cas - challenge #30

Autumn has been in full swing for a couple of weeks now! I'm so in love with the colours of the leaves. It is a little sad to see them falling down, but the positive thing is that the trees are preparing themselves for spring! Have you already seen the little buds on the branches? Our pastor in church paid attention to this phenomenon a couple of years ago and since then I always remember that autumn is necassary for spring! Creation is so beautiful!

Okay, let's go to this week's challenge for Crazy for Cas! We have an inspiration picture for you with lots of autumn colours. I made a card using these colours by stamping leaves in orange, greens and yellow. The front is distressed with antique linen and tea dye. The circle is made with some studio Calico papers like the green hill. A bow made with twine for the finishing touch. The stamps are from Waltzingmouse Stamps - Tiny Trees.

So, hop over quickly to the Crazy for Cas blog for all the details and link your card! Looking forward to what you have made!

Hello hexagons!

A few weeks ago I got an invitation to participate in the Design Team of the Crazy for CAS blog. As you can imagine, it didn't take much time to say yes to this challenge!

Today  my first contribution. The challenge is: use hexagons. That's no punishment for me at all. I used my PTI hexagon plate to die cut some hexagons from Crate Paper's 'The Pier'. I did some nonchalant stitching, added glimmer mist and to finish it off I used two pieces of washi tape. The 'hello' sentiment is from Jillibean and wood veneer embellishment from Studio Calico.
All together quite a messy card, but I like it!

And what about you? Are you playing along with this week's challenge? Hope so!

Maybe you have already seen the change of the name of this blog. I wasn't happy with the blogname as it looked a bit weird: handmade with Saar and Pien. They aren't ingredients for my craft at all... Actually, it was a great example of Dunglish! I like to use Saar and Pien in my blog's name, so I thought of Studio Saar & Pien. The address hasn't changed, so all the older links should work properly.
Enjoy your weekend!

DCL challenge #194 - flowers

Today a card with design papers. Yep, you are not very used to it anymore, as I worked on many CAS cards over the previous months and used only a few papers. But I like to work with design papers, so I created a birthday card with Crate Paper's The Pier. It actually is a summerline, but most of the papers and embellishments are useable throughtout the year. I bought the embellishments with the papers, but still hard to work with them. They are more suitable for LO's I guess. I added a flower to the card which suited perfectly with colours and shape. I inked all of the edges to give it a vintage look.

With this card I like to participate in DCL's current challenge: say it with flowers!
Have a nice evening!

Say it with flowers

Last few weeks I haven't been blogging much  due to the start of a new school year. It always is a busy time with introduction, preparing new lessons, meetings and of course meeting new students and remeeting students I taught last year. And last week I was back in college as well in order to follow lectures to get my qualification as teacher of English. Only until January I have to attend lectures and hopefully I can finish it off somewhere in spring 2014. Looking forward to it!

So, not that much time for blogging myself, visiting other blogs or creating cards and other crafts.
Only one card to share with you. Made with SU paper, PTI's  Rosie Posie and birthday die and stamp. The give the card a bit more dimension I embossed a circle with a Spellbinders die and I love the effect.

I wish you all a very nice weekend!

You are awesome!

Quite a simple card today. I've got many die-cuts with sentiments I don't use very easily. Like the one today. But I thought for a couple who is getting married it is a perfect sentiment. They are young, very pretty and I'm sure the will look awesome in their wedding suit and dress. I used stuff from American Crafts - Dear Lizzy.

This month is a favourite time for weddings. So, more wedding cards to make i the coming days!

Smile - Hello - Hey!

I'm enjoying my last week of summer holiday. It feels I have had a break for months! But this week I have to prepare myself little by little for the upcoming events at school. Of course, I'm curious for my new students and I'm looking forward to finish my studies next schoolyear. So, for sure I will be a little homesick to my holidays next week, but I'm quite sure I will enjoy daily life as well. It will be good to be back in the rythm.

This card was made two weeks ago for a blogfriend who received a little parcel for a belated birthday present. It is made with Dear Lizzy Papers (American Craft), Jillibean's Stamps (sentiments), wooden embellishment from Studio Calico and the stamped arrows are from Amy Tangerine's stampset (I told you about in this post). For sure a card which gave me a summer feeling!

In my previous post I showed you some baby projects. Today one picture from our little newphew accompanied by the owls. Isn't he cute?

That's it for today! Thanks for coming by!

baby project

During our holiday a little nephew was born. And of course he would have some homemade baby projects. When Marianne Design launched their owl die, I knew I would do something with it for this baby and thought of making a pram or maxi cosi toy. It was a bit hard to choose colours, but finally I decided to use aqua blue, lime green and some greys. And for the second shape I chose a star. I used some gingham ribbon and a little bell for the finishing touch.

Secondly, I made some bibs with cotton and a cuddle cloth I showed you before. You can find the pattern here.

By the way, the black cord which is still visible on the pictures has gone. I cut them off after fitting on the pram.
As you probably can imagine, I was very happy with these projects and so were the parents!

Thanks for coming by. Enjoy your day!

Say hello to the camera!

When I ordered a couple of things here I stumbled upon a stampset of Amy Tangerine. I have seen LO's from her before, but never seen her products. One stampset called me: 'buy me, I'm nice'. So, I did (I'm very obedient...). One stamp I like in particular and that's the camera. Nowadays you see them everywhere in the 'Project Life' albums, but it works very well on a card as well. I coloured the camera in colours I liked, without any idea how to use it in a card. When I finished colouring I didn't now what to do, as I couldn't think of any matching paperline. Fortunately, I ordered in the same order also a paperpad of Studio Calico, Snippets. I didn't have a proper look at it  yet, but some of the papers matched perfectly with my colouring. So I cut two strips. Stamped a grid (from the same Amy Tangerine set), added some glimmermist, cut out the Hello sentiment, choose a wood veneer embellishment and put all the ingredients together with some stitching and staples.

I'm sure more cameras will follow!
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for stopping by.

Enjoy!

Today's card has been made with American Craft's Dear Lizzy Lucky Charm. 6x6 paperpad has a versatile papers with flowers, geometric patterns, dots and stripes! Perfect for mixing up papers what I did with pleasure. I used the same idea as the card in my previous post and put two papers together. I punched a circle and add a star from the embellishment set. After stamping the sentiment and putting all stuff together, the card was still empty and not really attractive. So, I cut out two little notebookpages (from the same paper pad), did some stitching and thought: why not adding some glimmer mist? Last but not least some staples and I was satisfied!

I'm enjoying my coffee at the moment and after posting I'm off for the the weekly market. I love to buy my vegetables, cheese and other stuff at our local market, but usually I have to work on Tuesdays. So, during holidays I have to grab my change! I will definitely enjoy my day. Hopefully you as well!

Thanks for coming by!

Back in town

After having had a wonderful holiday we are back home! And between laundry, stocking our fridge and reading newspapers from the past few weeks I have already made one card! SU papers and ink meet Papertrey's stamps:

Quite a simple card, but I was in a hurry as I needed the card for a birthday party yesterday evening.
More projects are waiting to work on for next week and I'm looking forward to it. And I soon start reading new blogposts, curious what you have been working on!

See you soon!

Summer Days

Summer is finally here! Warmth, sunshine and holidays. Best combination ever, don't you think? I'm going to take a break from blogging with this summer card made with Simple Stories Summer Fresh.

Wish you all many easy, breezy summer days with lots of fun in the sun and laziness!
I'll be back somewhere in August with a baby project and the next Judith-Gerdine challenge!

Bye for now!~

Together forever

The challenge on 'A Passion for Papertrey' is to provide your own inspiration piece and make a card based upon it. I had to design a card for a newly wed couple, so what 's easier than looking for a bridal bouquet? I found a beautiful one with summer colours and found matching colours in my ink stash. To symbolise the bridal veil I used vellum for embossing the sentiment on (from Clearly Besotted Stamps). The flowers are stamped with PTI's Ruby Rose. Papers are from American Craft. The background grid is stamped with WMS Off Beat.

I'm very happy with the result!
Thanks for stopping by.

SU party and blog hop

Last week was the release of the new Stampin Up catalogue. Marit organised a 'launch party'. Although she lives an 1,5 hours drive away, I couldn't resist her invitation. Marit was one of my first blog visitors and we usually visit each other's blogs. Marit also invited 6 others who I met in blogland, but never ever in real life. Great fun it was! We had a really nice day and enjoyed the Stampin Up stuff. Marit offered us two 'workshops'. We made a card and decorated a milk carton. Don't you love that little milk carton? Don't tell anybody, but I ordered that die (and some other stuff as well).  Now waiting for the postman! Marit prepared us a lovely lunch and brownies for afternoon tea. Delicious!! She is a good baker as well!

For the card we got a sketch, a bunch of papers and a nice collection of stamps. Marit made us some clay flowers which we could colour in every colour we wanted (with markers). This is my card:

In the afternoon we made this milk carton. Our little niece celebrated her birthday the day after the party, so I made one for her. She liked it, but I'm not quite sure what she liked: the milk carton or the candies?!

And finally an overview of that lovely day!

Marit, thank you for this party! Hop over to her blog to find more information about SU. She organises workshops quite often if you want to join.

Curious for the other cards and milk cartons? Hop over to Cornelie, Nadine, Bianca, Dora, Wendy and Judith (yeah, after all our challenges, emails and snail mail I finally met Judith in real life! And guess what: she is really a nice person. Just what I expected!)

Thanks for hopping by!

Cuddle cloth

I was looking for something else in our local fabrics store when I saw these adorable, little gnooms waiting to be used for something cute! I thought why not making cuddle cloths with labels as I have a basket full of ribbons? It took me a while before having the right 'recipe' with the fabric, cling film (used as rustling material) and batting, but after a few attempts I've got the rigth size and filling. A few cloths have already been sold  on a fair. I think I will make a couple more.

This monkey wants to say hello as well! Back on Wednesday with a card!
